Nikon V Leica

(click on an image to view larger)

Since the M9 is away being serviced, I've had to go back to using the D90 with the 18-200mm lens. I hadn't realised just how much I'd become accustomed to the Leica's image quality! When I opened these images up it was almost like looking at a camera phone image ... The dissatisfaction with the Nikon is mostly down to the poor performance of the Nikkor zoom lens which is very 'soft' indeed. Well, it is a budget zoom on a budget camera, but still... It's very noticeable the digital quality of the Nikon image appears harsh and hasn't anywhere near the smoothness of the Leica's full sized sensor. The above images were taken with the Nikon and look fine at this size and resolution but at 100% the quality just isn't there.

That's It Folks!

The gate is now shut. With no one around, it's time to turn off the lights and leave. It's been fun and maybe one day someone will...
