Neil Armstrong

The first man to walk on the Moon is gone. When Neil was a fourteen year old boy, Orvill Write died. That means the first man on the Moon and the first man to fly on Earth, could have met in their own lifetimes. Could Orville and his brother who built and flew the first heavier-than-air powered aircraft, ever have believed such a thing possible?

Since Neil stepped out on the Moon 43 years ago, only twelve men have visited that impossibly far away place. What an incredible, fantastic achievement in such a short time. And since then, well, not much. We no longer fly supersonic and still use internal combustion to drive our cars.

This picture of the Moon was taken on Sunday in daylight. The air was remarkably crisp and clear, and I still wonder in awe at the courage of those men who went there and had a look around while some even drove around. In 1969 I was expecting in the 21st century to be sipping a cocktail in some hotel on the Moon by this time.

That's It Folks!

The gate is now shut. With no one around, it's time to turn off the lights and leave. It's been fun and maybe one day someone will...
