One thing about snowy ground, it leaves a tell-tale print of and any visitors. I only saw a flash of wings and glimpsed the Heron departing as it had seen me first, as usual. But the pond defences of string seemed to have worked. He'd obviously landed on the bridge damaging the string and then tried to walk along the ground instead. Again the string barrier stopped him, judging from the tracks. Ha! Take that, pesky Herron!
