Night Life

Just back from Pub Street which in actuality is an area, not just a street. During the day it's nothing special but at night it comes alive. Small side streets filled with bars and restaurants and life despite the still flooded roads. People just waded through the ankle deep water barefooted holding their flip flops.

We had a meal at the Le Grande Cafe, which is a lovely remnant of the colonial past. Sitting upstairs looking down over the bustling street through open archways under slow turning ceiling fans. Beyond the rooftops lightning flickered as the storm and rain drew closer. When it finally arrived, it only added to the atmosphere. Very characterful and evocative of a time I thought had long since past.
